POSITION SUMMARY

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Financial Services department is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and motivated individual for the auxiliary full-time position of Financial Analyst.

Reporting to the Manager, Accountability and Risk, the Financial Services Analyst provides direct support to a variety of Financial Services’ operations functions including accounting and financial reporting and annual financial statement preparation. This position is responsible for ensuring that all financial practices and systems comply with legal, accounting, and best practice policy standards. Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have recently graduated or currently enrolled in a professional accounting (CPA) program and completed a relevant post-secondary program of at least two (2) years, or a combination of three (3) years of education, related training, and experience.

Other qualifications include experience in organizing and managing large amounts of financial information, experience with electronic workflow software such as DocuWare and accounting software such as Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and Case Ware, experience with Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act (FOIPPA) requests, and experience working with various computer applications including Adobe Acrobat Professional and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
