Classification & Terminology Informaticist (full Time)

Northern Health

This is a Contract position in Victoria, BC posted July 15, 2021.

Reporting to the Coding Coordinator, and working closely with Clinical Information Systems teams, Interoperability team, Coding team, Medical Directors, Program Directors, and clinical data stewards, the Classification and Terminology Informaticist possesses in-depth knowledge of appropriate use of health information classifications and terminologies within and between health information systems.

The Classification and Terminology Informaticist provides supports regarding the meaningful inclusion of health information classifications and terminologies in support of clinical documentation integrity/improvement, standards and discrete data capture in practice and enhancement of service delivery.

The Classification & Terminology Informaticist works to develop and maintain reference sets and mappings between healthcare systems.

Qualifications
– Graduation from an accredited Health Information Management Diploma or Bachelor Program;
– Certificate in Terminology Standards and/or Certificate in Clinical Documentation Improvement/Integrity;
– Five (5) years recent related experience including two (2) years’ experience in classifications use including SNOMED-CT, ICD-10-CA, CCI or an appropriate combination;
– one (1) years’ experience in clinical documentation integrity/improvement, data mapping or data lineage documentation;
– Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using, oral written and computer communication means.

Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict.

Strong documentation skills and demonstrated ability to develop detailed clinical or technical documentation, information models, diagrams, and track work activities or issues documentation.

Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.

Applies the problem solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision making skills using a systems approach.

Understands end-to-end data flows and identifying data dependencies in support of delivery, release, and change management.

Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.

Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Cerner, Med2020 and Windows based programs.

Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools.

Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing including the ability to perform advanced functions in spreadsheet, database, and word-processing software.

Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
